Gwen John: A Life – Sue Roe. I hadn’t heard of Gwen John before reading/listening to A History of Britain in 21 Women (I also hadn’t heard of her (more famous) brother, which made me feel a bit better about it) but I was instantly intrigued by her.
The Chilbury Ladies’ Choir – Jennifer Ryan. This sounds heart-warming in the extreme.
The Struggle for Catalonia: Rebel Politics in Spain – Raphael Minder. Events in Catalonia at the moment have made me unspeakably angry, as have the UK’s response to them (hang on, I don’t know what Ireland’s response was… upon googling, it’s very slightly better but not by much), but I realise there’s a lot I don’t understand about what’s happening over there.
Baba Dunja’s Last Love – Alina Bronsky. The cover! The blurb!!

The Rest of Their Lives – Jean-Paul Didierlaurent. I was utterly charmed by The Reader on the 6.27 so I have high hopes for this.
The Beginning of the World in the Middle of the Night – Jen Campbell. I’m a sucker for that title.

Spy Mystery of British Sisters Who Helped Jewish Refugees Flee the Nazis. Amazing.
Graphic Short Story: If You’re So Wise, How Come You’re Dead? A delightful short comic by Tor Freeman.
Me and My Pencil: Famous Creatives on Their Tools (In Pictures). I’m not sure why I find this so fascinating but I really, really do.
The Irishman Who Broke the Nazi Code. He cracked something Bletchley Park couldn’t, and yet I’d not heard of him before reading this.
21st Century Ireland in 21 Artworks. What a wonderful series. I’m particularly taken with ‘Boy’ by Geraldine O’Neill.
Brave Enough to be Angry. Female anger exists so let’s stop pretending it doesn’t (sidenote: watch Fleabag to immerse yourself in the story of a woman absolutely brimming over with rage in a way that few female characters are allowed to be).
40 of the Best Songs Inspired by Books. The more you know.
The French Bake Off Did Halloween Bakes and They’re All Pretty Horrific. Late to the party with this one but yay!

The Reader on the 6.27 – Jean-Paul Didierlaurent. This was a delightfully quirky read about a man who finds a diary on the train and his quest to find the woman who wrote it. I ended up really enjoying this after picking it up at random from the library. Thanks, library!
Edward Scissorhands, Volume 1: Parts Unknown – Kate Leth & Drew Rausch. The art style is cute and the story was fun, so a win overall.
Breakaway – Catherine Gayle. I really don’t think that finding a sex surrogate to help you get over a horrific rape is a sound basis for a romance. Despite this, the characters were readable and the romance was sweet. Still, rape-as-a-catalyst-for-romance…
Finding Dandelion – Lex Martin. Just as overwrought as the first book in the series, and just as oddly enjoyable.
Girl’s Guide to Witchcraft – Mindy Klasky. Memorable only due to the painful stereotyping of gay men.

Learning to Feel – N.R. Walker. Two hot guys fall in love, are a little bit unbelievable whilst doing it, but are hot enough that you don’t care. This is a rewritten fan-fic (although I didn’t realise that when I downloaded it from Amazon) and I’m quite curious to know who the characters were originally.
The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, the Vampire Accountant – Drew Hayes. A funny read about Fred, who finds life as a vampire as a dull as his life as a human was, and his strange collection of friends.
Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda – Becky Albertalli. I loved this book, guys. LOVED IT. It’s a wonderfully funny coming-of-age and coming-out story with a sweet romance, witty dialogue and general awesomeness. Recommended!
Storm and Stone – Joss Stirling. More supernatural boarding school shenanigans. This one with an utterly, utterly unbelievable secret organisation comprised of teen spies/detectives. I honestly couldn’t get over the ridiculousness of that part of the plot and ended up rolling my eyes pretty much through the whole thing.
Princess DisGrace: First Term at Tall Towers – Lou Kuenzler. A cute read about Princess Grace, who can’t seem to do anything right, but it didn’t inspire me to pick up the next book in the series.

Stardust Academy – Siobhan Rowden. This didn’t do anything for me, I must admit.
Uncanny Avengers, Volume 4: Avenge the Earth – Rick Remender & Daniel Acuna. The only character I’m in this team I’m really interested in is Rogue, and she wasn’t handled very interestingly so this was a meh.
